High Voltage and Metrology
LCOE’s High Voltage and Metrology activities are integrated into the High Voltage Technological Centre (CTAT), which is configured as a support tool for industry and R+D+i in the electrotechnical field.
Its structure, personnel, and facilities, together with its experience, prestige, national and international accreditations, and recognitions, make it an international reference in High Voltage and Metrology.

High Voltage Testing
The High Voltage tests (dielectrics, tests on products and materials and current impulses) are carried out in the new LCOE facilities in Tecnogetafe, which include two shielded warehouses and a climatic chamber.
Power and short circuit tests
Power tests, for which LCOE has ENAC accreditation according to the UNE-EN ISO / IEC 17025 Standard, are carried out at the High Power Laboratory (HPL) in Vizcaya.
High Voltage Calibrations
LCOE’s High Voltage electrical calibration laboratory, accredited according to ISO 17025 by ENAC, is the depository of national high voltage standards. Its international recognition, as a Designated Metrological Institute, allows it to issue BIPM Certificates to disseminate the traceability of high voltage direct, alternating and impulse voltage quantities. The recognition of the LCOE by the Administration as a Verifier of Electrical Measurements for Voltage and Current Transformers allows it to also issue Certificates of Verification at Origin.
Calibration in Low Voltage, Time and frequency, Optical
The LCOE has ENAC accreditation, according to the ISO 17025 standard for calibrations in various areas, with unique capabilities in Spain on specific issues such as flicker meters or the optics area.
Calibrations and verifications “in situ”
LCOE’s High Voltage Calibration work is spread through its mobile high voltage standards installed on vans and trucks that allow it to service independent and manufacturer testing laboratories, as well as high voltage current and voltage transformers. installed in electrical substations.
Insulation diagnostic and on-site testing
LCOE has different mobile test generators, some of its own design and development, for conducting on-site tests of high voltage equipment. Partial discharge measurement is used to diagnose insulation.
The measurements are carried out in the tests prior to the commissioning of the equipment (off-line techniques) and also during their normal operation (on-line techniques).
R+D+ i activities, studies and projects
The LCOE carries out specific studies of transients of high-voltage electrical networks, especially in the field of high-voltage insulated cables with their connection to GIS and high-voltage overhead lines.
